Mental Health Screening Assessments: Identifying Risk Factors

A Mental Health Screening Assessment, screens for mental health issues and risk factors, such as depression, anxiety, trauma, as well as behavioural issues, social difficulties, and risks of ADHD , LD, or Autism in Children and Adults. It is usually completed to determine next steps in the assessment process or to inform treatment intervention.

A Diagnostic Psychological Assessment, will screen for many of the above issues, but will also provide formal diagnoses in the areas of Mood and Anxiety, when indicated. Such assessments are usually performed to better inform therapy, pharmaceutical treatment interventions, and school and workplace accommodations. They are also required for the purpose of short and long-term work disability support.

Assessment Process

Mental Health and Developmental Screening Assessments typically involves 5-8 hours to complete (including intake, interview, testing, scoring, file review, formulation, feedback and report writing).

Screening Assessment Consultation Reports are brief and will include the results of the screening assessment (e.g., present symptoms and risks) as well as recommendations for next steps and intervention.

Diagnostic Psychological Assessments typically involves 3-4 hours of direct client contact and testing. The entire assessment (including intakes, diagnostic interviews, testing, scoring, file review, clinical formulation, feedback session, and report writing) takes approx. 15-20 hours to complete.

Diagnostic Assessment Reports are comprehensive and will include diagnoses and recommendations for treatment and school or workplace Supports and Accommodations, if applicable.

Diagnostic Assessment Reports can also include an opinion on the client's disability status (e.g., short/long-term disability), and suggestions for modifications to work or academic tasks/requirements, if indicated.
​Service Fees
Fees for Mental Health and Developmental Screening Assessments, can range between $1000 to $1500, depending on the complexity of the client's profile and the requested screening components (number of additional assessment hours and instruments). The Diagnostic component can subsequently be added for an additional fee.

The fee for a full Psychological Diagnostic Assessment with a comprehensive report can range between $2000-$2500 depending on the complexity of the client's profile.
